In this document, “he” learned how to identify the right audience, set reasonable learning objectives, properly organize content, strategize, and continually optimize. There is a need for a better product for demanding students who suddenly have much higher requirements for course format and content. As a result, there is a need for better content that reaches, engages, and educates students in the most effective way, increasing the pressure on content creators. The first key to creating effective course content is identifying the right audience. If you want to create courses that reach, engage and educate as many students as possible, you must focus on quality content. You can have quality content that engages the right audience, but how you organize that content in your course makes a big difference. The most important thing to remember when maintaining course content is to always get permission to obtain text, images, or intellectual property from another source. If you want to serve your students well and stay ahead of the competition, content quality should be an important consideration. Even if the content is relatively stable – like a history course – there’s always a way to keep it fresh. You might think it starts with the content and then determines who the audience is, but that often leads to flat content that is generic or ineffective. In fact, there is something to be said for entertaining other content ideas and using them to reinforce your fundamental learning goals. The classic format for organizing content is to create “modules” that divide the content into larger pieces and then develop separate “lessons” within each module. This preliminary work will help you create content as the course evolves. There is no need to create 100% original content for each course you create.
