As COVID-19 changes the way American consumers think about

As COVID-19 changes the way American consumers think about how they shop now and will continue to do so in 2020, retailers should remain optimistic, said Bjorn Petersen, president of Sensormatic Solutions. Sensormatic Solutions is Johnson Controls’ global portfolio of retail solutions that provide intelligent, connected customer interactions. Combining critical information about store inventory, customer traffic and loss prevention, Sensormatic Solutions delivers operational efficiencies at scale and creates a unique shopping experience. Click here to learn more about how Sensormatic Solutions is meeting COVID-19 requirements for retail this holiday season. Sensormatic Solutions expects store traffic to drop between -22% and -25% year-over-year during the six-week Christmas season. The outlook for this Christmas season remains positive as traffic dropped 82% in April and has since improved to -25%. 7% for the week ending Sept. 19, Petersen said. Our portfolio of construction technology and solutions includes some of the most trusted names in the industry, such as Tyco®, York®, Metasys®, Ruskin®, Titus®, Frick®, Penn®, Sabroe®, Simplex®, Ansul® and Grinnell®. As a result, normal holiday traffic peaks will decrease and other days during the season will become more important. Our retail portfolio includes leading brands Sensormatic, ShopperTrak and TrueVUE. The first 10 days of 2020 will account for 34.2% of total holiday traffic, up from 46.5% in 2019. Our solutions provide real-time visibility and predictive analytics to make accurate enterprise-wide decisions, so retailers can look to the future with confidence. Since the pandemic began, we’ve seen a shift toward shopping during the week as consumers take advantage of new remote options and deliberately avoid large crowds on weekends. With more than 1.5 million retail data collection devices, we record 40 billion customer visits a year and track and protect billions of products.
